Loaded with punch, but lacks crunch
Doing a remake is no easy task. Choreographer-director Raju Sundaram should have understood it by now. He has tried to retain the flavour of the original, but could sustain it only in parts. The onscreen chemistry shared by Ajith and Nayanthara is ok.
Ajith is agile but no patch on Shah Rukh Khan.
Aegan is supposed to be a remake of the Main Hoon Naa. But, many changes have been made to suit Tamil tastes and the image of the matinee idol Ajith. Overall Aegan is an adequate remake of a hit. Ajith is certainly on to a winner since he hardly has any competition during this Diwali
Aegan is entertaining
Plagarism isn't about to go out of fashion anytime soon. No two ways about it that Raju Sundaram’s Aegan is a rip-off of Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na. The director had claimed he was ‘inspired’ by Back To School, probably he must not have seen the Hollywood film!
Total let down even to the hardcore fans of Ajith
The film falters in many aspects that go to make a crowd-pleasing movie. It has a very weak story and raises more questions than it answers. There is not a single character to root for, and a climax that is like a cop out rather than a smooth, convincing end. Raju Sundaram has taken the plot's crux from Main Hoon Na and has heartbreakingly remade it badly.
