Aatma amar hain.
You forget most films the moment you step out of the cineplex. But there are films that remain etched in your memory for their simplicity. BHOOTHNATH is one of those films. Go for it!
Bhoothnath - Good in patches
Bhoothnath is just a wee bit scary, amply funny, and more than generously melodramatic. The spook makes you smile more than he scares. He also makes you moist eyed – at times a bit more than needed.
Bhoothnath belongs to Amitabh Bachchan and Aman Siddiqui.
Bhoothnath starts off as a ghostly tale but soon shifts gears and is more about the relationship between Bhoothnath and Banku. To sum things up, Bhoothnath works on every level although the music is disappointing. Go for it, you wont be disappointed.
Bhoothnath is far from being perfect fare - it aint too drab either.
Till now, I had my suspicions about this, but now I have to say I am totally convinced. There are definitely two in-house ghosts that haunt two big production houses of Bollywood that go by the name of Chopra. Bhoothnath itself isnt too bad. It isnt exceptionally smart or witty either.
Go for the bhoot and bachcha buddyness
With Bhootnath, Bollywood recognises the need to cater to the fast growing tween and teen population with specially crafted family drama meant to spice up the vacation. Here, it's quite a riot of fun that a sixty-plus ghost and a seven-something kid manage to kick up with their escapades in a spooky haveli on the outskirts of Goa.
Bhoothnath will be a hit with the kids
It's your normal, ordinary drama that we see on screen, but credit to the makers for adding an interesting twist in the form of a ghost with loads of special effects. Amitabh as Bhootnath is scary at first. He portrays well his transformation; from scary to lovable.
Baghban meets Casper the friendly ghost.
Do ghosts need make-overs? Do they cry? Do they like aloo ka parantha? Well, if they're featuring in a Bollywood movie, they just do. Amitabh Bachchan infuses charm into his angry old ghost but Bhoothnath feels too pat and calculated to work as a sparkling fairy tale.
Ghosts can be fun.
Bhootnath is that rare film set in Goa where you don't see a single bikini-clad woman. There are plot-holes large enough to make Bhootnath an uneasy bumpy ride. But Amitabh and Aman make you smile as they frolic, sing, banter and deliver some really heartwarming homilies on the quality of existence.
