Billu Barber is strictly pedestrian!
One Khan against another, that's Priyadarshan's latest offering, Billu Barber in a nutshell. Don't expect too much hype over it though.
Take your family to this one.
On the whole, BILLU is a sweet-n-simple film that lingers in your memory even after the show has concluded. The final 20 minutes are the highpoint of the enterprise and that elevates the status of the film to great heights. The film has the potential to grow with a strong word of mouth.
Makes much song and dance about nothing.
Watching Billu made me wish for something simpler, shorter perhaps; something that would make me go back to the dung-caked house where stories were all about human relationships and even came with a little moral at the end of it.
Review for Billu Barber
The film may not have done well in its Tamil version (Kuselan), but Priyadarshan has suitably peppered it with some heart-tugging moments to make it a moving ode to friendship and ordinariness.
Above average
If you are going looking for SRK, Priyanka, Kareena & Deepika in the film please do remember that as the title suggests it is an Irrfan Khan film. One of the decent Priyadarshan film’s in recent times. The last few minutes are the best part about the film.
Billu is not the film you wanted it to be.
For all said and done, Billu is by far the director's most sensitive work since Kalapani and Viraasat despite the film's extravagant excesses like the three scorching item songs incorporated to counter the rural characters and ambience with dollops of urbane octane.
Billu - Middling on all vistas
Billu is a film that could be enjoyed by those if they hadn't watched the original version. Though filled with bits and pieces of absurdities, the final 20 minutes of the film deserves appreciation getting you to applaud for Shah Rukh's performance. Watch it once!
Billu - A cut below the rest
In need of serious trimming, BILLU ends up as a film which I suppose in years will be to Shahrukh and his fans as that-which-you-do-not-speak-of.
Review for Billu Barber
One can expect fireworks when King Khan will meet the King of comedy Priyadarshan. The two have finally got together for a film which is titled Billoo Barber.
Billu blew me away!
I thought the movie would be terrible because I somehow don’t have a taste for Priyadarshan films. And till the first half was complete all my fears were coming true. But then came the second half and blew me away– and I mean that in a good way!
Take your kids to Billu
Billu -- perhaps inadvertently -- ends up being a naive little children's film, the kind of entertainment DD used to hurl at us kids during its Afternoon Transmission.
Yes, they Khan
Though the film has its share of stock characters, maudlin and over-the-top moments and sags in the latter half, there’s also good story-telling, some great acting, and a healthy dose of masala in the item numbers.
Billy the barber
Billu deserves a watch for Irrfan Khan's brilliant performance as Billu or if you're a die-hard Shahrukh Khan fan. Else, wait for the DVD.
Eminently ordinary film
Watching Priyadarshan's retelling of the Krishna-Sudaana story in Billu reminded me of the khichdi my mother would forcibly stuff in my unwilling mouth as a child.
Tugs at your heart
It’s a story that throbs with emotions. It tugs from within you love and sympathy for its titular protagonist, and it builds up suspense right to its fag end when floodgates open and you are overwhelmed by tear-jerking emotion.
