The joy of movies is back

New York is a serious and moving film. There are many moments in the film, like the 9/11 scene, the climax, John’s humiliation sequence (authentic; will make you cringe) that move you to tears.

Do watch it.

New York is one of the best movies of 2009 and deserves a decent run at the box-office. Do watch it.

New York not convincing

Watch the excellent Pakistani film Khuda Kay Liye to see how a terrific script and convincing performances can go a long way in telling a similar story. This film, unfortunately, lacks both.

'New York' -Could've been better

Saddled with a plot-holed script and poor performances from half of its starcast, ‘New York’ falls short of expectations. Watch it if you have three hours to kill.

New York is a film with a heart

It is a film that gives us hope and reminds us that there is always a room for a little bit of forgiveness, compassion and love. Just for telling us that, I'd say you watch New York this Friday.

New York is a sham

Maybe Kabir Khan decided that torturing the audience was a method to get them to relate to the condition of illegally detained racially profiled Asians after 9/11... or maybe he thought that a public service advertisement's worth of statistics could actually be stretched into a full-length movie. Either way, this New York is doomed.
