The film flounders
While director Prabhu Deva has weilded the bow well enough, he appears to have forgotten the arrow, and the film misses the bull's eye.
Adventures of a Tamil James Bond
Appropriate twists and turns -- even if logic has taken a toss and quite a few loose ends are never tied up -- make sure you're awake. So leave your brains behind and prepare to enjoy the adventures of a Tamil James Bond.
Villu – A Test of Patience
With tacky production values, shabby cinematography and amateurish direction Villu almost becomes a torture. Overall, Villu is a poor product and strictly for the very ardent Vijay fans.
Don't look for a quality storyline and script.
The corker of an entertainer has all the ingredients of a successful Vijay masala, presented much more stylishly than before. Truly, a nice way to celebrate Pongal for Vijay fans!
Review for Villu
A story with more holes than Swiss cheese (some of it takes place in Switzerland), occasional flashes of Nayanthara dressed in apologies for attire, an absent screenplay and listless work by cinematographer Ravi Varman tests everyone's patience till the auditorium's lights come on to the relief of the audience.
Old fashioed amateurish masala film
Pokkiri was no classic but next to Villu, it sure looks like one.
